CALENDAR HIGHLIGHTS

**Children of Uganda

Singing and dancing to the exotic sounds of engoma drums and amadinda xylophones, the Children of Uganda revel in the sheer pleasure of their artistry, but dance for something greater. These young performers, ages 6 to 16, are orphans who travel as ambassadors for the 1.5 million Ugandan children who have lost their parents, mostly to AIDS. Their "Tour of Light" performance can be seen at Stanford's Memorial Auditorium at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19. Tickets are $20 to $30; half-priced for children under 16. For information, call 725-ARTS.

Gather the family and help with maintenance at Wunderlich Park in Woodside on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed to shovel, rake, and pack down crushed rock on the Bear Gulch Trail. Less strenuous jobs like clipping vegetation and trail raking are also available. Layered outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes are recommended. Water and lunch will be provided.
