First Presbyterian has egg hunt

The First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View invites families to the Easter Sunday Worship and an Easter Egg Hunt. The hunt will begin immediately after the 10:30 a.m. Easter Sunday Worship, March 31, at the church, 1667 Miramonte Ave., Mountain View.

The event is free. Children under age 12 are welcome for the Egg Hunt.

Ecumenical Good Friday service

The First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View's Sanctuary will host an Ecumenical Good Friday service, noon to 3 p.m., March 29. Six pastors from local congregations will focus on "Christ's Seven Last Words on the Cross."

The six Pastors will include: Ken Gammons, First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View; Rev. Mark Bollwinkel, Los Altos United Methodist Church; Rev. James Gaderland, Foothill Covenant Church; Rev. Kevin A. Phillips, St. Timothy's Episcopal Church; Rev. Curtis Church, Mountain View Central Seventh-Day Adventist Church; and Rev. Isaiah Jones, Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Children of Uganda at Christ Episcopal

Christ Episcopal Church. 1040 Border Road, Los Altos, will welcome the Children of Uganda this coming Sunday as they provide music for the Palm Sunday. service. The 20 performers , ages 6-17, are orphans who travel as goodwill ambassadors for the 1.7 million Ugandan children who have lost their parents, mostly to AIDS.

The children are nearing the end of a four-month tour in the United States which will include performances at Stanford University Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, March 23-24. While here, the children will stay at Hidden Villa's Youth Hostel.

Women of Christ Church will hold a workshop on "Centering Prayer," 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., April 13. Carol Fowler, workshop and retreat director, will discuss "A Journey From Belief to Relationship."

United Methodist Palm Sunday

Los Altos United Methodist Church, 655 Magdalena Ave., will include a children's processional with palm branches as they begin the Palm Sunday celebration of Jesus' entry to Jerusalem. .

The Los Altos Methodist Players are preparing a fresh representation for the annual "Maundy Thursday Living Masterpiece." Costumes and sets will provide a "presence" for the congregation who will be joining the Last Supper table, which includes a behind-the-scenes dialogue with the Apostles.

LDS church sponsors Easter events

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1105 Valparaiso Ave., Menlo Park, is sponsoring three events for the upcoming Easter season. All events are free and all are welcome. All events begin at 7:30 p.m.

On March 24, Elder Merrill F. Higham will use scriptures and footage from the Holy Land to take you from Bethany to Golgotha, providing a unique perspective on the last week of the Savior's life and resurrection.

On March 29, Good Friday, the Valparaiso Singers, along with the Chancel Choir and orchestra from Los Altos United Methodist Church, will perform the music of John Rutter, featuring "Requiem" and six additional anthems, conducted by Judith Stewart. Soprano soloists will be Evelyn Naylor and Laura Moore.

Lenten services at Foothills

Foothills' Maundy Thursday event will be held 7 p.m., March 28, starting with a simple sit-down supper in the Parish Hall. Following the meal there will be the celebration of communion and the Office of Tenebrae, a service that recalls the last day of Jesus' life, while extinguishing candles.
