Choral singers perform 'Requiem'Peninsula singers have an opportunity to prepare for and perform -- in one day -- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Requiem." The event will take place on Saturday, October 26, beginning at 9 a.m. in the LDS chapel at 1105 Valparaiso Ave. in Menlo Park. A dress rehearsal will take place late in the afternoon and the public concert will be at 8 p.m. in the Stanford Memorial Church. Conducting the program will be Craig Jessop, director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City. Stephen Sano, director of choral activities at Stanford, will assist. Fee for the entire day (including lunch and Dr. Jessop's edited scores) is $25. Tickets for the performance are $8 for adults and $6 for seniors and students. Choral singers of all faiths and backgrounds are invited. One need not belong to any organized choir. This is the third interfaith choral workshop organized by Judith Stewart, director of the Valparaiso Singers in Menlo Park. For more information and registration, call Judith Stewart at 854-3079. |
